Dunwoody Gets Payback On Roswell With 3-1 Win

Dunwoody's Jazlyn Daughtry (#22) goes up for kill shot

On Thursday, the Dunwoody Wildcats hosted the Roswell Hornets in a non-region match up and one in which the Wildcats looked to get some revenge on the Hornets, who defeated them 2-1 during a weekend tournament. The Wildcats would take the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-23 but in the third set, Roswell would dominate most of the set going up by as many as seven points and holding off a late Dunwoody rally, winning the set 25-23. The Wildcats would take more control in set four, going up by as many 10 points when they led 23-13 and would go on to win the set 25-20, taking the match 3-1.

After the Dunwoody win, head coach Julie Gartner said it was good for her girls to get the win after their loss earlier this week to Norcross and over the weekend to the Hornets. “It was very important. It’s nice to get a big win after a loss,” Gartner said of the Wildcats victory Tuesday adding that she felt her team is playing “great”. Dunwoody currently holds the number two seed in the region standings and still has a chance to lock up the number one seed coming out of the upcoming region tournament and Gartner says, momentum will be key for them. “It’s really important to try to gain some wins, to get some good energy flowing into the region tournament and hopefully the state playoffs, so we’re ready,” Gartner said.
