Alexander Executes 5-0 Day At "Reindeer Games"

On Wednesday, the Marist War Eagles wrestling team hosted their annual Reindeer Games in which several teams from around the Atlanta metro area were on hand, including the Alexander Cougars who were looking to bounce back from their sixth place finish at the Bradley Invitational in Tennessee over the weekend.

As teams get set for the second half of the season which will get underway as early as next week for some teams, the Cougars would get just the momentum they needed as they would go 5-0 on the day at Marist. Alexander’s Dylan Burton, who was the 2021 6A 160 runner up, would have a solid performance as he himself would go 5-0 on the day.

Following Wednesday’s matches, Alexander head coach, Sean Moistner, said the 5-0 performance was something his guys “definitely’ needed just ahead of their short break. “We came back from a tournament in Tennessee that was pretty tough, so we needed a chance for some of our younger guys to see some success and get our older guys one more time to get on the mat before we go to region duals in a couple of weeks,” Moistner said.

Moistner also praised Burton for his performance on Wednesday, saying that the 5-0 day was good for his confidence” as he has been battling back from illness and had been out of action for almost two weeks. As the Cougars prepare for the second half of the season, Moistner says “aggressiveness” is something he wants to continue to see from his wrestlers as they look to make a deep run in state.
