Ranked No.1 Senior Recruit, DeAndre Ayton Headed to Arizona

On Tuesday, the top ranked high school basketball recruit, DeAndre Ayton, announced that he would be heading to Tucson, Arizona to play with the Wildcats. Ayton, a senior center for Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, chose the Wildcats over Kentucky and Kansas saying "I made Arizona home when I came to the Hillcrest Prep. My family and I can benefit by coming to my games,” as he held up an Arizona "Bear Down" t-shirt and placed a Wildcat hat on his head. “Coach (Joe) Pasternack and Sean Miller, we really trust those guys and trust that program and I know they can help me get to the next level," Ayton went on to say. The 7-footer also admitted that the process has had its challenges such as juggling the phone calls, homework, and putting in extra time in the gym on top of the mandatory practices, “It’s been rough, to be honest, added Ayton. Over the summer, Ayton averaged 19.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in the Nike EYBL.
